Announcing the McElhanney student lounge at BCIT

Nov 19, 2015

McElhanney is excited to announce the unveiling of the “McElhanney Lounge” at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) on November 10, 2015.

In acknowledgment of McElhanney’s generous donation in March 2015, the student lounge was dedicated to McElhanney.

“We were thrilled to be able to offer this support to BCIT, and even more thrilled when BCIT proposed the creation of the McElhanney Lounge with the funds.” says McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. President & CEO Allan Russell. “We truly believe BCIT is a partner to our firms, and have been a large part of our success over the past 50 years.”

“We have been hiring BCIT grads since the school opened its doors 50 years ago,” says McElhanney Land Surveys Ltd. President Bruce Winton. “Today, it remains one of our main sources for hiring students and grads out of several programs.”

The lounge located at the Burnaby Campus, Building SW3, Room 3704, designed to be a warm and accessible space for students to study or relax, is located in a common area for Civil and Geomatics Engineering students.

“Imagine a day in the life of a student where there is a space where you feel at ease to unwind from an intense hands-on learning environment and have a quiet space to study and collaborate with peers. This is what McElhanney is providing to students at BCIT through their generous donation,” says Jackie Jacob, Executive Director, BCIT Foundation.
