McElhanney establishes Strategic Transportation Planning division

Nov 27, 2015

McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. is pleased to announce our new Strategic Transportation Planning division, which further expands the company’s transportation planning services to provide clients with enhanced service offerings across Western Canada.

“McElhanney is already well-known for its expertise in transportation feasibility studies, multiple account evaluations, business casing, and master planning services,” said Allan Russell, President and CEO of McElhanney. “Expanding our services to include transportation demand modelling, policy formulation, land use planning, traffic and revenue projections, and specialist public and stakeholder engagement allows us to service our clients more cohesively.”

This new division within our consolidated Transportation Planning sector is led by Peta Wolmarans, MCRP, and supported by Basse Clement, PEng. Both Peta and Basse are based out of McElhanney’s Vancouver branch.

Peta is responsible for developing the strategic transportation planning practice and working with clients to support data-driven decision making. She has over 20 years' experience working on the interface between transportation and communities, and managing inputs from engineers, planners, designers, and stakeholders to generate evidence-based solutions.

Peta has applied her expertise across a range of sectors including transit, highways, aviation, freight, and marine shipping in both the UK and Canada. Her strong stakeholder engagement and public consultation experience further strengthens McElhanney's expertise in this area.

Basse has over 18 years’ experience in strategic transportation planning, business casing, and project management. Basse is recognized as an industry leader in regional and sub-area macro (EMME) modelling, including the development of econometric models. He has developed multi-modal transportation and project plans for clients across the BC and the Lower Mainland, including TransLink, the Province, Transport Canada, and various municipalities. His experience includes freight plans, corridor and functional plans, traffic and revenue studies, transit plans, and data collection programs, including travel and screenline surveys.
