McElhanney carried out design and construction services for the $9.8M project, receiving several appreciative comments in speeches made by the Band and the Contractor. In his own speech, Kamloops Branch Manager David Kneeshaw expressed McElhanney's gratitude for the role that the company played and reflected on his seven-year involvement in the project, from its early planning stages. Several changes in the Band's vision and planning were necessary along the way, and there were some huge decision points, requiring real team commitments to the goal. This resulted in the most appropriate system for the Band, which has now been put in place.
Mayor Peter Milobar pointed out the long-standing commitment of all parties present to best serve all people in the Kamloops Valley. Cathy McLeod, MP, was pleased to see the positive results of the CEAP stimulus program that largely funded the project. Tk'emlúps Chief Shane Gottfriedson and Councillor Fred Seymour both acknowledged the tremendous opportunities this system will give the Band in the years and decades to come.
