Nestled within the scenic mountains of Peter Lougheed Provincial Park in Kananaskis Country, Alberta, the William Watson Lodge provides year-round accommodation for Albertans with disabilities and senior citizens. McElhanney were hired by the Alberta Tourism Parks & Recreation to redesign the landscape at William Watson Lodge. In this project McElhanney redeveloped the entire site to bring it up to date with provincial accessibility standards. This included replacing almost 2 kilometers of asphalt pathways with concrete walks. In order to facilitate operations and meet the needs of users the facility could only be closed for two months. The $1million dollar project was completed on time and on schedule thanks to McElhanney’s on site construction supervisions.
