The goal of the 2-day MapInfo Professional course is to familiarize new users in the geoscience field with the various functions of MapInfo, enabling them to be more productive in their work environment sooner. This course consists of a series of lectures and hands-on exercises using geological data and a workbook for each attendee. Each attendee requires their own laptop and a copy of MapInfo Professional. No MapInfo Professional experience is needed.

• Utilize MapInfo's interface to open and manage map files.
• Manipulate map layers.
• Colour code your maps using symbols for geochem data, lineaments, rock units (a.k.a. Thematic Mapping).
• Turn your database of geochem samples into points on a map.
• Query your maps and databases for information you need to get your job done.
• Produce high quality maps for the plotter, Word document or the Internet.

This one-day Discover course will familiarize geologists with the various functions of Discover, a mineral exploration extension for MapInfo Professional. Gridding, graphing, scaled plotting, cross sections and more are covered. The course consists of a series of lectures and hands-on exercises using geological data and includes a workbook for each attendee. Each attendee requires a working knowledge of how to run MapInfo Professional for this course, their own laptop and a copy of MapInfo Professional and Discover.

• Utilize Discover's Enhanced Layer Control to manage multiple map windows.
• Easily produce high-quality scaled output with grids and a titleblock.
• Translate maps between local grid and real-world coordinates.
• Create plans, cross-sections and strip logs.
