Compass Enterprise consists of 4 separate programs:

Compass Master is central to the Compass Enterprise data management system. Compass Master manages the system configuration and Compass catalogues.

Compass Navigator allows you to search against any number of Compass catalogues, report the search results, and open the returned datasets or documents. Users are also able to propose documents for cataloguing.

In addition to the features of Navigator, Compass Commander allows administrators to customise and perform maintenance operations on Compass catalogues and approve proposed datasets.

Compass Voyager enables searching of and browsing access to the Compass catalogues via a Web browser. It opens the spatial searching functionality to an entire organisation. Users in the local environment can send data to their local application, or alternatively, use the embedded FTP process to download datasets from remote locations.

• Spatial Searching. Compass Enterprise provides the tools to apply a spatial reference to datasets using embedded GIS technology

• Data administrators can catalogue any digital or hard copy data and preview over 150 spatial formats. Online datasets can be opened into any compliant application.

• Compass Enterprise provides the tools to subset data to a local desktop from the primary Compass catalogue, disconnect from the network and continue working.

• Compass Enterprise supports enterprise-wide searching, combining both spatial and metadata searching. The resultant documents can either be opened, published for reporting purposes or a subset created for use offline.

• Data administrators are able to build multiple catalogues for different projects and locations within your enterprise. You can construct and customise catalogues, classify the data by type and source and apply metadata templates such as ANZLIC or FGDC. Or alternatively, you can create a unique metadata group that best represents the intellectual property for your specific business.

• Compass Enterprise is based on a modern component-based architecture using the .NET framework and Microsoft technology suitable for deployment across a multi-tier architecture.
