Your Health

Provincial Medical
You and your family will be enrolled in the provincial medical group program to ensure access to services provided by physicians and supplementary health care practitioners, laboratory services and diagnostic procedures.

Extended Health Care
McElhanney’s Extended Health Care plan helps with the cost of medical services not covered by the provincial medical plan, such as hospital care, prescription drugs, vision care, medical equipment, hearing aids and paramedical services such as Chiropractors and Naturopaths.

Dental Care
Benefit coverage is available to you and your dependents for dental care including basic treatment, dentures, surgical procedures, restorative services such as crowns, and orthodontic treatment.

Health Care Spending Account
Our benefit plan includes a Health Care Spending Account (HCSA). With an HCSA, you have extra benefits to cover unexpected health or dental expenses - and even pay amounts that the benefits plan does not include.  You control where you spend these benefit dollars.

Employee and Family Assistance
This program, provided by a large and respected behavioral health service provider, is available to help you with the challenges you face both at home and at work. It is a volunteer, confidential, short-term professional counseling and advisory service that connects you and your family members to a network of dedicated professionals who are available to give you assistance 24 hours a day. A special feature of the program is WorkLife Solutions, a confidential advisory service that can assist you and your family in balancing work/life issues such as elder care and child care.

Non-emergency Medical Travel Assistance
For employees who have been with the company for a minimum of two years, the company will provide financial assistance to help offset transportation and accommodation costs not covered by provincial or other medical insurance associated with travel from their home town to a treatment centre for medical treatment for themselves or their dependents.

Life Insurance
McElhanney provides basic life insurance and basic accidental death and dismemberment insurance. You also may enroll in varying levels of optional life insurance, voluntary accidental death and dismemberment and dependent optional life insurance to help ensure the financial security of your family.

Disability Benefits
As prescribed by company policy, sick time and short term disability benefits help provide continuing salary during illness. Long term disability benefits are managed through McElhanney’s Benefits Provider.

Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP)
Our RRSP has been designed to provide you with an opportunity to save for your retirement while reducing your current taxes. The plan gives you the ability to choose how you want your savings to be invested and McElhanney makes matching contributions in accordance with specified policies to help with your retirement goals.
