Aquatic Impact Assessment for Seismic Upgrades at Departure Bay Ferry Terminal

Client: British Columbia Ferry Services Inc.

The north-east corner of the Departure Bay Terminal required seismic upgrades to achieve compliance with current seismic standards. The engineering solution was placement of materials on the seabed to reinforce the existing structure. An assessment of environmental impacts was performed including appraisal of replacement habitat within the footprint of the proposed project. An Environmental Impact Assessment was prepared and application made through Fisheries and Oceans Canada for approval under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA).
