Alaska Highway Asphalt Pavement-Q/A Testing -
KM 133-193
Client: Public Works & Government Services Canada
This $15 million paving project involved a 50mm overlay, 20 km of MoT Class 1 Hot Mix Asphalt and 40 km of MoT Class 1 Fine Hot Mix Asphalt, 113,000 tonnes of paving aggregate and replacement of four culvert structures on KM 145-165. An asphalt plant was located at Km 40 on Upper Halfway Road.
Working from a mobile testing facility, McElhanney’s site review team provided asphaltic concrete properties testing, asphalt content (ignition oven method) and aggregate sieve analysis, aggregate physical properties testing and paving and plant inspections, and assisted in the determination of EPS payment factors. For KM 133-145 and 165-193, McElhanney also conducted a World Bank Class 1 Profilograph Survey.
