The Sea to Sky Highway - Horseshoe Bay to Whistler

The Sea to Sky highway between Whistler and Vancouver is currently being rebuilt in anticipation of the 2010 Olympic Games. McElhanney is providing several services to the BC Ministry of Transportation, ND Lea and Associated Engineering on this project, including: detailed topographic surveys, seismic surveys, legal surveys of the highway for the new Right of Way, borehole and test pit location surveys for geotechnicians, construction layout and a Digital Terrain Model.

This project is taking place in a culturally sensitive area which includes archaeological sites and bird nesting grounds. Our seismic survey was especially important to determine overburden depth as this helped decide the alignment of the proposed top of cut.
