LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology is one of the most accurate, efficient and cost effective ways to capture large-area topographic data. LiDAR data contains huge amounts of information on infrastructure, vegetation and buildings. You can use the data to produce contour maps, DEMs, slope analysis, tree height analysis, 3D visualizations and fly-throughs. McElhanney owns and operates two LiDAR systems, one Leica ALS-50 II LiDAR system coupled with two Rollei metric digital cameras and the other a Leica ALS60 with a RCD105 digital camera. Both systems enable orthophoto imagery capture and extreme resolution mapping measurements that yield outstanding definitions of environmental engineering studies and roadways, landscaping and building edges in finished display maps.
