Situated in Calgary, is a plaque on the Trans Canada Trail Pavilion along the Bow River that reads,
McElhanney Land Surveys Ltd. is a proud sponsor of the Trans Canada Trail. We encourage all Canadians and visitors to explore this beautiful, vast and diverse country.
This project was a great fit for us as historically, surveyors and trails are synonymous. Throughout our history, McElhanney has surveyed and mapped a lot of the lands in western Canada. Some of the sections surveyed and mapped for the Trans Canada Trail are located near Beiseker, Medicine Hat, Athabasca and the Heart Trail near Lac des Arcs at Dead Man's Flats.
Alberta has two Trans Canada Trail routes, an east west route linking Saskatchewan and BC and a northern route from Calgary to the Yukon and the Northwest Territories. This trail is part of a larger network that totals 18,000 kilometers linking three oceans and many communities. McElhanney Land Surveys Ltd. is proud to have donated over $40,000 worth of these services to help complete sections of the Trail throughout Alberta.
In May 2007, McElhanney Land Surveys Ltd. was chosen to receive a Certificate of Nomination from the Wild Rose Foundation and Tourism, Parks Recreation and Culture to acknowledge our continued community involvement with this project (click here to view). This is the second time that such a certificate has been awarded to McElhanney. |
