Scholarship Overview

In recognition of the outstanding contributions of emerging digital leaders at McElhanney, this scholarship celebrates individuals who are advancing innovation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) through technical innovation. It supports our commitment to fostering future-ready talent who demonstrate the vision, creativity, and technical skills to drive digital transformation. The ideal candidate has showcased a recent innovation or achievement that exemplifies the integration of digital solutions, such as automation, emerging technologies, or new digital business models, and is passionate about shaping a STEM career.

We welcome applications from students of all backgrounds, including but not limited to Indigenous Peoples, women, racialized groups, persons with disabilities, members of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, and other equity-deserving groups.

One scholarship recipient, currently enrolled in an education program, will receive up to $5,000 to help cover tuition, textbooks, supplies, and living expenses (including on-campus housing), along with a direct internship opportunity.

Candidates are also encouraged to apply for opportunities to join McElhanney as an intern or new graduate during our regular recruitment cycles (winter, summer, and fall), which will be advertised on McElhanney’s website and via most post-secondary institutions’ communications.

Step 1: Select Your Career Path

Hands-on career training will be available through full-time or internship opportunities, and reserved for individuals interested in one or more of the following current career paths. In your application, please select your preferred career path. If you’re interested in more more than one career path, please rank them from most to least interested.

GIS / Geospatial

Analysis, Remote Sensing, LiDAR, UAV, Digital Mapping, Digital Twin Technologies, etc.

Step 2: Confirm Your Eligibility

To qualify for this scholarship, please ensure you meet the following criteria:
  1. You are eligible to work in Canada for the intended duration of the offer/contract.
  2. You are passionate about innovation or have achieved digital excellence in STEM.
  3. You have displayed academic excellence through capstone or research projects, workshops/competitions, or continued involvement in industry.
  4. You are enrolled in a diploma or degree program and have completed at least two years of post-secondary education at an accredited Canadian institution in one of the mentioned career paths.

Step 3: Application Instructions

A complete application must be submitted on or before November 30th, 2026, and include the following documents to receive consideration.

  1. A resume that summarizes your experience. 
  2. A cover letter including a personal statement of 1-2 pages that addresses the following questions:
    • Describe the goal and results of an innovative project that you participated in. Describe how you approached the problem (e.g., a website, AI, an app, digital automation, modelling or analysis, etc.).
    • How do you see this project addressing any real-world problems facing the engineering industry?
    • Why should you be selected as the recipient of this scholarship?
    • How would this scholarship support your career plans?

Financial Support:

This scholarship offers up to $5,000 for tuition, textbooks, supplies, and living expenses (on-campus accommodations).

Industry Mentorship Opportunity:

Be paired with a McElhanney industry professional who will support you in achieving your professional goals. Together, you will discuss training, coaching, or career aspirations of interest to you.

Co-op Opportunity

Internship Opportunity:

You will be awarded a paid internship that aligns with your career plans and McElhanney’s hiring needs. All scholarship applicants will be considered for current and upcoming McElhanney career opportunities.
