Developed in the 1950’s, the District of Kitimat was the result of Alcan’s investment to create hydroelectric facilities to support aluminum smelting in the area. Located in the northern British Columbia wilderness, the nearby forests and mountains offer unlimited outdoor adventure from hiking in the summer to cross country skiing in the winter. Meanwhile, the Kitmat River and nearby coastline are ideal for watersports.
Our local team specializes in civil engineering, legal and engineering surveys, GIS and Geomatics, and materials testing. We have been involved in recent major industrial and LNG projects such as the Rio Tinto Kitimat Modernization Project and BC Works, Kitimat LNG, and LNG Canada. With a long history in the Terrace-Kitimat Valley with major industrial players, we are a trusted and reliable business partner. We have a strong knowledge of our clients’ operations and a great working relationship with local construction and fabrication contractors in design-build and conventional construction projects.
We also provide municipal and transportation engineering services from our Kitimat Office as well as municipal design services to local contractors and developers. Our branch has supported design and construction projects such as the District of Kitimat Asset Management System and the Ministry of Transportation Highway 37S Passing Lane.
