Parks Canada Emergency Response

2012-ongoing | Various National Parks, BC and AB

Since 2008, McElhanney has completed over 300 assignments for Parks Canada. This includes emergency response services for major floods in Banff, Jasper, and Kootenay National Parks in 2012 and 2013, as well as avalanche cleanup in Banff National Park in 2017. We immediately provided emergency response services through staff deployment, field assessments, technical recommendations, and construction support for several assets. Scope included Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements documentation, preliminary and detailed designs, cost estimates, and tender documents.

In 2015, McElhanney outlined an emergency response protocol, with technical service for assessing and advising on damaged infrastructure around highways and roadways within the National Parks. This featured a 24-hour health and safety emergency call number staffed by McElhanney.
