Comox Valley Airport Relocation

2002-2004 | Comox Valley, BC – McElhanney’s municipal engineers began working with the Comox Valley Airport Commission back in 2002, when the then two-taxiway and single-wide trailer civilian airport required relocation and redevelopment to keep up with user demand. The new, much larger site, adjacent to the Canadian Air Forces base, opened to the public in 2004. Since then, McElhanney’s teams have continued to help with projects for both airside (controlled access) and groundside (public space) civil works. Our work included land use planning, municipal infrastructure planning and design, fuel delivery designs, vehicle parking planning and design, construction contract administration, and coordination with multiple stakeholders, including the Town of Comox, the Department of National Defence, Transport Canada, BC MoTI, and the Comox Valley Regional District.
