Boney Creek Development Joint Venture

2025-Current | Nisga’a Lisims Traditional Territory

The Nisga’a First Nation is composed of four main villages, located in the Nass River Valley in central British Columbia:

  • Gitlaxt’aamiks (also known as New Aiyansh)
  • Gitwinksihlkw (formerly Canyon City)
  • Lax̱g̱altsʼap (formerly Greenville)
  • Ging̱olx (also known as Kincolith)

For 30 years, McElhanney has worked with all four village governments of the Nisga’a First Nation on projects ranging from splash parks to subdivisions to wastewater treatment plants. Boney Creek Development Limited Partnership (BCD) is the economic development arm of the Lax̱g̱altsʼap Village Government. As larger projects arrived on the horizon, BCD approached McElhanney to establish a joint venture.

In January of 2025, McElhanney entered into a joint venture with BCD called the MCBC Joint Venture. The relationship was commemorated with a gift giving ceremony in March 2025. McElhanney Vice President – Energy & Resources, Nathan Sikkes, and Lax̱g̱altsʼap Village Government President, William Moore, attended.

BCD selected McElhanney because of McElhanney’s established relationship with the village governments of the Nisga’a First Nation. Over multiple projects spanning multiple decades, McElhanney has nurtured a relationship of trust. BCD is eager to see the MCBC Joint Venture result in capacity building for staff and existing businesses, and in project work that aligns with Nisga’a values.

McElhanney is honoured to be working with BCD as the MCBC JV, delivering multidisciplinary consulting services for projects on Nisga’a lands. To date, the MCBC Joint Venture has commenced one project in Lax̱g̱altsʼap. In preparation for the development of new access roads, pits, and camp locations for the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission project, the MCBC Joint Venture was engaged to scout several locations throughout the Nass Valley to identify locations suitable for materials such as gravel, concrete mix, and rip rap production.

McElhanney is proud to build this relationship with Nisga’a Village of Lax̱g̱altsʼap and looks forward to continued sharing and growth.
