The BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure honoured McElhanney with the top award for “Design and Contract Preparation for Roads” for our work on the roundabout at Highway 97A and Main Street in Sicamous, BC.

The new Sicamous roundabout provides safer and improved facilities for pedestrians and cyclists, especially for students from the adjacent school, and has several innovations, including raingardens with drought-tolerant plants; easy staging to 2-lanes in the future; and numerous elements to facilitate use by oversize vehicles operating under special permits.

McElhanney’s Erv Newcombe, José Pinto and Kevin Leggett accepted the award at the 13th annual Deputy Minister’s Consulting Engineers Awards on January 26, 2017.

On top of this exciting win, McElhanney was also nominated for two other awards: Recognition of Excellence in Alternate Transportation for Pattullo Bridge Traffic Diversion Impact Mitigation, and Recognition of Excellence in Construction Management & Supervision Services for H37 Powerline Creek Passing Lane.
