In early 2025, Azadeh Koohzare was appointed Chair of a new ACEC-BC working group on the use of AI in the engineering practice. In the months since her appointment, Azadeh has led a team of industry professionals in creating a member guide for firm leaders that explores AI uses in the AEAC space.

“AI is no longer a future consideration,” states the member guide. “It is already transforming how consulting engineering firms plan, design, and deliver their work. By taking early, thoughtful steps, firms can harness the potential of AI while upholding the values of technical excellence, public safety, and professional accountability.”

The working group’s member guide is precisely the kind of early and thoughtful step the guide itself recommends. It complements EGBC’s Practice Advisory document and delivers perspectives on how AI intersects with AEC firm:

  • Strategy and governance
  • Business value and risk
  • Operations and workflows
  • Sector applications
  • Emerging trends
  • People, practice, and culture

“I’m pleased with what the working group has accomplished,” affirms Azadeh. “This membership guide is an important resource to help leaders take practical steps toward understanding AI’s implications for both firms and clients.”
