After it was destroyed by wildfire in 2017, McElhanney was engaged to deliver a FireSmart strategy for Crandell Mountain Campground.
McElhanney’s landscape architects incorporated soil cells in the Riley Area’s streetscape improvements to support long-term tree health.
Award-winning work within a constrained, congested corridor that included fish-bearing creeks, sensitive habitat, parks, residences, and commercial spaces.
This project began as other flood mapping projects do: the existing flood maps were from 1982 and the District of Kitimat knew that they required an update.
Working closely with the town, McElhanney proposed new designs for these parks that will add a fresh sense of place to the community and give residents spaces where they can relax and reconnect with nature.
Parks Canada Agency challenged McElhanney to design the Badlands Parkway to minimize impacts to the wildlife and overall ecosystem.
